Involvement: Furnz Group delivered the full project from concept design through to on-site completion, encompassing concept design, developed design and documentation, procurement, manufacturing, and delivery of all FF&E across 47 guest accommodation rooms and suites.
Approached to reimagine the interiors of a Fijian hotel with more than 50 years of history, the objective was clear: bring something fresh without losing what made the place worth returning to. With a genuine appreciation for Fijian culture and a considered approach to contemporary tropical design, every element was carefully conceived to reflect both the spirit of its surroundings and the needs of the modern traveller.
Drawing on Fiji's natural landscape for its palette and materiality through softened timbers, organic textures, nature-inspired tones, the design takes a contemporary lens to tropical living, favouring understatement over spectacle and comfort over showiness. From locally crafted wall hangings and woven textiles to custom furniture and joinery, each piece was developed in close collaboration with trusted supplier partners, ensuring the outcome felt cohesive, meaningful, and rooted in place.
The result is a fitout that not only meets the demands of a high-occupancy property, but delivers the kind of warm, effortless guest experience that Fiji Gateway Hotel has been celebrated for across more than 50 years of welcoming travellers to Fiji.
