Delivering a New Chapter for Nanuku Resort, Fiji

A decade-long partnership, a reinvigorated guest experience, and global recognition for one of the Pacific’s most loved luxury escapes.

When Nanuku Resort Fiji unveiled its revitalised beachfront suites, residences, dining spaces and public areas, the reaction was immediate and international. The resort has since been recognised in several major categories, including recent TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice accolades and industry awards celebrating it as one of Fiji’s most exceptional luxury stays.

For Furnz Group, the project represents the culmination of a long-standing, 10-year relationship with Nanuku. What began as a single stage of FF&E support has evolved into an enduring partnership across multiple refurbishments and guest-experience upgrades.

Turning Design Vision into Built Reality

While the resort’s interior designer was based offshore, Furnz Group’s role was to translate the design intent into a detailed, buildable, climate-appropriate solution.

“Nanuku’s designer brought a strong inspirational direction,” explains Furnz Group Director, Euan. “Our job was to bring that to life — to make sure materials, finishes and manufacturing methods were right for Fiji’s environment, and that every piece met the five-star standard.”

Furnz supported the design team through technical detailing, specification refinement, prototyping, and full FF&E production, working closely with their long-term manufacturing partners in Indonesia. From bespoke lighting to large-scale joinery packages, each element was engineered for both aesthetic impact and long-term performance in a coastal climate.

Precision Delivery in a Logistically Complex Environment

Delivering a premium resort from Auckland to a remote Fijian location demands a high-functioning supply chain and a meticulous approach to programme control.

The Nanuku project involved dozens of containers, staggered shipments of both finished and flat-packed components, and coordination with local upholsterers and on-island craftspeople. Some elements were manufactured offshore, shipped as components, then assembled or upholstered in Fiji to optimise freight volumes and site sequencing.

This is where Furnz Group’s long-standing local relationships came into play. Years of on-island experience meant the team could rely on trusted representation and local infrastructure, critical for QA, installation support and on-site coordination.

“You can’t just jump in a vehicle and visit a site. Every trip has to count. So the planning, the people on the ground, the timing of every milestone, it all matters.”

Craft, Culture & the Guest Experience

Although Furnz Group’s international manufacturing partners produced many pieces, the project also incorporated Fijian craft elements, including bespoke glass features and locally produced magimagi (coconut fibre) detailing, adding cultural specificity without compromising the contemporary luxury palette.

The result is a collection of spaces that feel warm, elevated and deeply connected to place. From the signature dining areas with their woven lighting features, to the beachfront suites where natural textures and calming materiality define the guest experience.

Recognition That Reflects a Shared Standard of Excellence

For Furnz Group, the recent awards and publicity around Nanuku Resort hold a special significance.

“We’ve never been focused on entering awards ourselves,” Euan notes. “But when a resort we’ve been involved in receives that kind of recognition, you feel proud. It reflects the collective effort, the design vision, the craft, the logistics, everything that goes into creating something so memorable.”

Having personally stayed at the resort after completion, Euan describes the true measure of success: guest response.

“I’ve watched families leave in tears because their stay was so incredible. The culture, the staff, the environment, and our work just complement all of that. Nanuku is an experience. That’s why people love it.”

A Partnership That Continues to Grow

The refurbishment has reinforced a decade-long relationship, with Furnz Group now supporting Nanuku Resort, Fiji, through additional phases of upgrade work already underway.

It’s a partnership built on trust, technical excellence and an unwavering commitment to delivering beautiful, durable interiors that feel at home in Fiji’s extraordinary landscape.

As Nanuku continues to achieve global recognition, Furnz Group remains proud to play a part in shaping one of the Pacific’s most celebrated luxury escapes.
